SecureAuth Terms of Service
Welcome to SecureAuth! These Terms of Service ("Terms," "Agreement") govern your access to and use of the SecureAuth 2FA authenticator and password manager application ("App," "Service," "SecureAuth") provided by SecureAuth ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using SecureAuth, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
Important: Please read these Terms carefully. They contain important information about your legal rights, remedies, and obligations. By using SecureAuth, you acknowledge that you understand our zero-knowledge architecture means we cannot recover your data if you lose your master password.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using SecureAuth on any device, you acknowledge that:
- You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms
- You have read and agree to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference
- You are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)
- You have the legal capacity to enter into this binding agreement
- If using the App on behalf of an organization, you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms
- You understand that we use a zero-knowledge architecture and cannot recover your data if you lose your master password
2. Description of Service
SecureAuth is a security application that provides the following features:
2.1 Core Features (Free Version)
- 2FA Authenticator: Generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for two-factor authentication compatible with major services
- Password Manager: Store and manage unlimited passwords with AES-256 encryption
- Secure Vault: Basic encrypted storage for sensitive files and documents
- Biometric Lock: Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint authentication support
- Password Generator: Create strong, cryptographically secure random passwords
- Local Storage: All data stored locally on your device with encryption
- Offline Access: Full functionality without internet connection
2.2 Premium Features (Optional Subscription)
- Unlimited secure vault storage
- Cloud sync across multiple devices with end-to-end encryption
- Priority customer support
- Advanced password health monitoring
- Secure password sharing
- Automatic backup and restore
- Breach monitoring and alerts
- Custom categories and advanced organization
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice.
3. User Accounts and Registration
3.1 Account Creation
SecureAuth can be used locally without creating an account. However, cloud sync and certain premium features require account creation. When creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information (optional email address)
- Choose a strong master password that you will remember
- Keep your master password secure and confidential
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
3.2 Master Password Responsibility
CRITICAL: Your master password is the key to all your encrypted data. Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot recover, reset, or provide access to your account if you forget your master password. You will permanently lose access to all your data if you lose your master password. You are solely responsible for:
- Choosing a strong but memorable master password
- Never sharing your master password with anyone
- Storing your master password in a secure physical location
- Setting up recovery options in the app settings

Important Warning: We cannot recover your master password under any circumstances. This is not a limitationβit's a security feature that ensures your data remains completely private. If you forget your master password, you will lose all access to your encrypted data. There is no backdoor, no recovery mechanism, and no way for us to help you regain access. Please take this seriously and ensure you can always remember or securely store your master password.
3.3 Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon account deletion:
- All cloud-stored data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
- Active subscriptions will continue until the end of the billing period
- Local data on your device will remain until you uninstall the App
- You will lose access to cloud sync and premium features
4. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use
4.1 Permitted Use
You may use SecureAuth for personal use to secure your accounts, passwords, and sensitive information. You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
4.2 Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Remove, circumvent, or disable any security features or protections
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Violate any applicable laws or third-party rights
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Use the App to store or transmit illegal content
- Sell, rent, lease, or redistribute the App without authorization
- Create derivative works based on the App
- Store content related to child exploitation or illegal materials
4.3 Vault Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you store in SecureAuth. You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the right to store all vault content
- Vault content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
- Vault content does not contain illegal material
- You will not use SecureAuth to store or distribute unlawful content
5. Subscriptions and Payments
5.1 Premium Subscription
SecureAuth offers optional premium subscriptions to unlock additional features:
- Monthly subscription (auto-renewing)
- Annual subscription (auto-renewing, discounted rate)
- Lifetime premium access (one-time purchase)
5.2 Payment Processing
All subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed through Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). By purchasing a subscription, you agree that:
- Payment will be charged to your App Store or Play Store account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is disabled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage subscriptions and disable auto-renewal in your device's App Store/Play Store settings
- Prices are subject to change with advance notice
5.3 Free Trials
We may offer free trial periods for premium features. Terms for free trials:
- Free trials are available only to users who have not previously subscribed
- At the end of the trial period, you will be automatically charged unless you cancel before the trial ends
- To avoid charges, disable auto-renewal in your App Store/Play Store settings at least 24 hours before the trial ends
5.4 Refund Policy
All purchases are processed through Apple App Store and Google Play Store and are governed by their refund policies:
We do not process refunds directly. All refund requests must be directed to Apple or Google.
5.5 Subscription Cancellation
To cancel your subscription:
- iOS: Settings β [Your Name] β Subscriptions β Select SecureAuth β Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store β Account β Subscriptions β Select SecureAuth β Cancel
After cancellation, premium access continues until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for unused time.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
6.1 Our Intellectual Property
SecureAuth, including all content, features, functionality, source code, algorithms, and user interface, is owned by us and protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You acknowledge that:
- The App is licensed to you, not sold
- We retain all rights, title, and interest in the App
- You do not acquire any ownership rights through use of the App
- All trademarks and logos are our property
6.2 Limited License
Subject to compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Download and install the App on your personal devices
- Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
- Access features in accordance with these Terms
6.3 Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you store in SecureAuth. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to:
- Store your encrypted content locally on your device
- Store your encrypted content on our servers if you enable cloud sync
- Process your encrypted content to provide App functionality
We do not claim ownership of your content and cannot access your encrypted data.
7. Data Security and Backup
7.1 Your Responsibility to Backup
You are solely responsible for backing up your data. While SecureAuth provides secure storage, we strongly recommend:
- Exporting your vault data regularly
- Storing backups in multiple secure locations
- Using our cloud sync feature (premium) for automatic backup
- Testing your backups to ensure they work
7.2 No Liability for Data Loss
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any data loss, corruption, or damage that may occur from:
- Device failure or malfunction
- Accidental deletion of data
- Forgetting your master password
- Software errors or bugs
- Third-party interference or security breaches
- Failure to backup data
8. Third-Party Services
SecureAuth may integrate with third-party services for cloud storage and other features. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their actions, content, or privacy practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
9. Disclaimers and Warranties
9.1 "As Is" Provision
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Warranties that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure
- Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content
- Warranties that defects will be corrected
- Warranties regarding data recovery or password reset
9.2 Security Disclaimer
While we implement industry-standard security measures, we do not guarantee that:
- The App will be completely secure from all threats
- Unauthorized access to your data will never occur
- Your device will be protected from all malware or attacks
- Third-party services we integrate with will maintain security
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 Liability Limitations
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SECUREAUTH, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages
- Lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Device damage or malfunction
- Data loss, corruption, or inability to recover data
- Lost passwords or inability to access accounts
- Personal injury or property damage
- Any damages arising from use or inability to use the App
10.2 Maximum Liability
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of SecureAuth shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SecureAuth, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Your violation of applicable laws or regulations
- Content you store in the App
- Your negligent or willful misconduct
12. Modifications to Terms and Service
12.1 Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date
- We will notify you via email or in-app notification for material changes
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
12.2 Changes to Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
13. Termination
13.1 Termination by You
You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the App and deleting your account.
13.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if you:
- Violate these Terms or our policies
- Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
- Threaten the security or integrity of the Service
- Violate rights of other users or third parties
13.3 Effects of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the App immediately ceases
- Your account data will be deleted according to our retention policies
- You will lose access to premium features
- No refunds will be provided for unused subscription periods
14. Dispute Resolution
14.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing a claim, contact us at support@secureauth.app to attempt informal resolution. Provide a detailed description of the dispute and desired resolution.
14.2 Binding Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with recognized arbitration rules. Arbitration will take place in a neutral location or online.
14.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AGREE TO BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS ACTION OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute not subject to arbitration shall be brought in courts of competent jurisdiction.
16. General Provisions
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SecureAuth regarding use of the App.
16.2 Severability
If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
16.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
16.4 App Store Terms
If you download SecureAuth from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and SecureAuth, not Apple or Google
- Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support
- Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or its content
- Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms

- You understand our zero-knowledge architecture means we cannot recover your master password
- You are responsible for backing up your data
- You will use the App in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws
- You understand the security limitations and accept the risks
